OTISCO ST –  Working with community members in the Near West Side and greater Syracuse area, local residents Tina Zagyva and Dustin Regner constructed the Living Wall sculptural installation at 720-722 Otisco St.  Various individuals assisted Dustin and Tina in the process of building the main structure, including setting out and excavating the foundations, pouring footers, constructing the wooden framework, applying the moss design to the wall, and assisting in documenting the process with digital media.

The wall is 40 feet in length, constructed from Black Locust & Larch hard wood, supporting slate panels. A goal of the project is to continually include community members of all ages in hands on activities to further develop the wall, bringing together and recognizing the diverse knowledge and skills that the surrounding community possesses. Through the project, Zagyva and Regner seek to craft an experience for individuals to come together as a community to engage with the landscape we all inhabit.
